The Opportunity

We are on the hunt for an experienced trailblazing and savvy Network & Security Engineer to join our growing and talented team in a dynamic and forward-thinking IT environment.

This pivotal, challenging and impactful role will focus on overseeing and facilitating the implementation of IT infrastructure projects that align with our organisational objectives. You will work closely with the Operations Team to deliver a wide range of skills that contribute to providing exceptional customer service.

Based from Ringwood, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and deploying secure and scalable network solutions. You will also provide Level 2/3 support, troubleshooting, and resolving complex network and cyber security issues. Your expertise will ensure that our network infrastructure remains secure, high-performing, and reliable.

Reporting into the Head of IT Services, you’ll have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art infrastructure, networking, and security technologies from industry-leading vendors such as HPE, Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and Aruba. Your expertise in firewall security, routing protocols, MPLS, SD-WAN, and network infrastructure management will play a crucial role in safeguarding and optimising our IT environment.

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for technology and security who is eager take ownership of network design, security implementation, security compliance, and critical infrastructure projects and play a key role in shaping the future of network security and IT strategy at MEGT.

 

About You

You will apply your extensive experience in network security, including firewalls, SD-WAN, cloud technologies, and ISO 27001 frameworks, alongside your deep expertise in routing, switching, security, and load balancing within complex IT environments. With a strong command of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, IPSEC, SNMP), combined with hands-on experience in mitigating DDoS attacks, managing vulnerabilities, and remediating penetration tests, you will be instrumental in safeguarding and optimizing our network infrastructure.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong Networking Expertise – In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, LACP, LAG, and MPLS.
  • Firewall Security Proficiency – Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate), including policy configuration, VPN setup, and threat management
  • SD-WAN Implementation – Proven experience deploying and managing SD-WAN solutions from vendors such as Fortinet, HPE, Cisco Meraki, and Aruba.
  • Enterprise Network Design & Troubleshooting – Ability to architect, configure, and optimize complex network infrastructures, ensuring security, scalability, and reliability.
  • DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (IPAM) – Strong understanding of network services and protocols critical to enterprise networking
  • Strong compliance and ISO27001 experience (Knowledge of RFFR would be an advantage)
  • Level 2/3 Support & Troubleshooting – Experience handling advanced network incidents, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Security-First Mindset – Strong grasp of cybersecurity best practices, zero-trust networking, and intrusion prevention techniques.
  • Vendor & Multi-Platform Experience – Expertise with HPE, Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and Aruba networking solutions.
  • Excellent Documentation & Communication Skills – Ability to write clear technical documentation and effectively collaborate with stakeholders across IT and business teams.
