The Opportunity 

Based in our Ringwood office and reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a key role within the MEGT Finance Division. The primary focus of the role is managing the financial compliance functions for MEGT and its subsidiary companies and to assist the Financial Controller to develop the financial accounting and compliance functions within MEGT.  

Guided by MEGT’s Purpose and Values, the role will closely partner and collaborate with a variety of diverse customers (internal and external) to deliver a consistently high standard of performance to support businesses and communities, to create employment solutions that change lives for the better.

This role is Part Time working 2-3 x 7.5hr days.

  • Prepare and lodge BAS returns for MEGT and subsidiary entities in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Prepare and lodge Payroll Tax returns for MEGT and subsidiary entities in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Preparation of the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns for MEGT and subsidiary entities
  • Support internal and external audit requirements, including preparation of supporting documentation and resolution of audit queries
  • Assist in completion of month end tasks to strict timelines 
  • Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the development, review and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures 
  • Manage the corporate credit card process 
  • Coordinate with external tax partners to lodge annual tax returns for MEGT subsidiaries 
  • Assist FC in preparing annual Insurance renewals 
  • Assist the FC in due diligence activities relating to mergers and acquisitions, including financial data preparation and analysis

About you 

  • University qualification in commerce, finance or accounting
  • CPA or CA qualified
  • Experience in a financial accounting role for a medium to large corporate
  • Experience in a multi-channel/multi-entity environment
  • Strong statutory accounting experience and exposure to FBT, GST, Payroll & Income Tax
  • High level of IT literacy including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and a familiarity with Business Intelligence and ERP systems
  • Experience with continuous improvement projects and the automation of financial processes
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex financial data
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement and automation of financial processes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prepare for and meet auditing schedules and comply with statutory requirements
