The Opportunity 

Based in our Southport office, this is a hands-on and rewarding role where you’ll support young people aged 15–24 to overcome barriers, build their skills, and create sustainable pathways into education, training, or employment.  

As a Youth Coach (TtW), you’ll: 

  • Engage and build rapport with a young people referred though Centrelink, community network, word of mouth and other channels, and assessing their eligibility. 
  • Manage a caseload of participants, providing one-on-one coaching, group activities, online engagement through Youth Engagement Platform (YEP), and referral to specialist providers. 
  • Develop and maintain Education and Employment Plans, helping each participant identify their goals, strengths, and barriers to success. 
  • Work collaboratively with MEGT Employment Services division, as well as services providers, schools, training providers, employers, and community organisations to connect youth with meaningful opportunities. 
  • Engage with local employers to identify and promote sustainable job and training placements.
  • Maintain accurate records and meet contractual requirements in line with Transition to Work (TtW) and DESE guidelines, ensuring quality and compliance in all service delivery.  

 

About you 

You are proactive, personable and passionate about helping young people in their employment journey. You thrive in a fast-paced, people-focused environment where every day brings new opportunities to make a difference. 

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:   

  • Experience in case management, employment services, youth work, community engagement, or related industries 
  • The ability to build strong relationships and engage with people from diverse backgrounds and communities 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and empathetic approach 
  • An understanding of local labour markets and the barriers young people face when seeking employment 
  • High digital literacy, strong attention to detail, and accuracy in data entry and record keeping 
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn and interpret, DESE guidelines and the Transition to Work (TtW) Deed
