As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into powerful, actionable insights that drive business success. Your expertise will help create and maintain robust data systems that support key business objectives, enabling data-driven decision-making at every level of the organisation.

Based from Ringwood, in this role you will use a wide range of data technologies, frameworks, and programming languages to streamline data collection, transformation, and integration. You’ll work closely with external stakeholders and internal cross-functional teams to build and optimize data pipelines, models and architectures that support systems, reports, dashboards and predictive models ensuring data reliability, quality, and accessibility across all platforms. Your work will empower MEGT and its users by providing clean, consistent, and actionable data that drives smarter business strategies.

From managing BI/DW/Datalake solutions end-to-end, wrangling data, building data assets, troubleshooting integrations and ensuring smooth data flows, your contributions will directly shape the organisation’s data architecture. You’ll also design and maintain comprehensive documentation to ensure seamless data flow, while fostering a culture of data accessibility and empowering internal and external stakeholders to leverage data for improved performance and innovation.

 

About You

 

You will leverage your pioneering experience and deep knowledge of hybrid cloud, enterprise data security architecture, and integrations, all while bringing a customer-centric, innovative approach.

With resilience, curiosity, and a strong drive to learn, you'll thrive as part of a united, close-knit team that is passionate about achieving shared success. To be successful, you will have including but not limited to:

  • 5+ years’ experience in data systems with a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of IT frameworks, data architectures, and emerging technologies
  • Expertise in data modelling, tuning concepts, and designing data solutions to drive business outcomes
  • Proven experience in data ingestion, transformation, pipeline creation, and data model implementation
  • Experience in the design, development, and implementation of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Analytics (Azure Data Factory – ADF, Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and Databricks), is highly desired
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, XML)
  • Deep understanding of ETL processes, data integration, and multi-dimensional data modelling
  • Proficient in Python
  • PySpark, GIT, and deploying clean, organised code (highly regarded)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Visual Studio/.Net, PowerShell, PowerBI, Snowflake, Scala (desirable)
  • Experience with hybrid cloud, enterprise data security, and integration platforms
  • Proven ability to design and optimise scalable data pipelines, improving performance with large-scale datasets
  • Strong collaborative skills, able to align data solutions with business objectives and advise stakeholders
  • Ability to project credibility and work effectively with all levels, fostering a partnership-driven, results-oriented approach
  • Self-motivated with the ability to inspire and engage others
  • Expertise in establishing best practices, documentation, and technical discussions with strategists and architects

 

Solid knowledge of the Microsoft / Azure and other cloud providers technology stack is essential in this role. R for AI/ML and Spark SQL is an advantage.
